Leaving a Legacy to Help Change and Save Lives
May is Leave a Legacy Month
The University Hospital Foundation raises funds to support advancements in specialized and complex care for patients at the University of Alberta Hospital, the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and the Kaye Edmonton Clinic.
Every year, thousands of patients from Alberta as well as western and northern Canada benefit from receiving the highest level of care, supported by the generosity of donors.
Charitable giving through a gift in your will to the University Hospital Foundation is a wonderful way to leave a legacy that has special meaning to you, while helping to ensure that patients continue to benefit from the latest research discoveries and advancements in care — long into the future.
Why make a charitable gift (bequest) in your will?
A bequest is a gift made in your will – and a meaningful way of carrying on your support for the causes that mattered most to you during your lifetime. Bequests may be specific sums, assets (like investments or shares), or a portion of your estate.
Consider your bequest to a charity as an investment in the future. Like other investments, it should bring you the greatest possible satisfaction. We would welcome the opportunity to work with you to develop a gift that is meaningful to you.
Your decision to remember the University Hospital Foundation in your will won’t change how you live today. But it could transform what we are able to achieve tomorrow, ensuring future generations will benefit from the best in patient care and research.
How do you include a charitable bequest to the University Hospital Foundation your will?
The easiest way to leave a bequest is to seek professional advice from a legal advisor experienced in preparing wills. Including a short statement in your will is all you need to do to make a legacy gift.
We would be pleased to provide you options and opportunities, including providing samples that may be helpful to you. We would also be happy to work with you or your advisor in choosing wording that best addresses your charitable intentions.
