University Hospital Foundation COVID-19 Update
Dear University Hospital Foundation family and supporters,
As you know, the University Hospital Foundation has a history of helping people in need — thanks to you, our incredible donors.
However, we’ve never experienced a time quite like the one that we — as an organization, as a community, as a society — face today.
And that’s why, now more than ever, I’m asking for your continued support so that we can provide, at a moment’s notice, funding for equipment, supplies and other requirements that the heroic frontline doctors and medical staff members at the University of Alberta Hospital site need to protect vulnerable patients, and the lives of the anticipated surge of patients with symptoms of COVID-19.
The University Hospital Foundation is already doing what we can to contain the spread of the virus by following guidelines set out by Alberta Health Services (AHS).
Your generosity in the past has equipped the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute (Maz) with advanced
life support equipment, which could play a vital role in treating the most critically ill COVID-19 patients. The cardiovascular intensive care unit at the Maz is the second-biggest program in the country by volume.
What we are asking for now are contributions to emergency needs to support unexpected expenses that are sure to soar over the months ahead.
